Happy Anzac Day!!! I WILL make those cookies! They look incredibly good! Yum yum! Wish I were in NZ now!

Yummy! You're quite the commemorator this week, aren't you :-) My best friend CL loves Anzac cookies. Last year she made me lug five bags home for her from Sydney.

Thanks Bea,
it's pretty cold in NZ just now, been raining throughout the country, so I'm wishing I was elsewhere! Hehe

Yes Eggy, does seem I am quite the commemorator this week, and it's my daughter birthday on Friday! Although should quiet down soon after that for the long cold winter.... brrr!

Can you tell I'm a little cold? hehe

This is a wonderful post, bron.

I visited the WWI battlefields of France and Belgium five years ago, and was touched by the many Kiwis and Aussies who take the time and effort to visit.

It is impossible to view those battlefields and walk through the cemeteries and memorials and not be touched by the sacrifice.

Canadians also began to carve a unique identity for themselves thanks to a WWI battle, Vimy Ridge, but the memorials for that event here are, sadly, virtually non-existent now.

Thanks Rob,

yes it's unimaginable what those guys went through, must admit to shedding a tear writing this post up.
Thanks for informing me on Vimy Ridge, I googled it..amazing! So many lives in so few days, terrible isn't it. Very sad to hear there is little memorial for them these days too.

In contrast Anzac day commemorations here seem to be getting bigger, with more and more young attending services each year. Although not only do we remember WW1, but WW2, Korea, Malaya and Borneo, Vietnam, Bosnia, the Gulf, East Timor, Bougainville, and Afghanistan
... when will it ever end?!

Hi Bron,

I echo Rob's sentiments. You've provided an important history lesson as well as reminded us that cookies aside, war has a huge cost!

The cookies look delicious. I've seen so many references to ANZAC cookies and now your beautiful pictures. I must give these a try!
