What a great combination! Sumac is one of my favorite flavor enhancers.

sumac is truly one of those delicate and elegant spices that bring a dish to shine. i love the stuff and always make sure to get a good supply when i am in dubai visiting my parents. love this light dish!

I think it's a rather funny story! I can sooo imagine the look of horror on your husbands face!! Imagine it would happen to you... The salad looks absolutely gorgeous. I can never get used to the fact that the other side of the world has summer while here it freezing cold and snowing!

Lovely recipe Bron and no your story hasn't put me off, although I can imagine your poor husband's heart must have stopped in that moment. I also love food in lettuce cups at this time of year, seems to me such a summer-y thing to do and a break from the heavier grains.

MMmm, I don't cook with sumac often enough - or with cherries! Will make a conscious effort to celebrate them a bit more this summer. I LOVE this combo! When we were holidaying (as we did every year at Easter) at a rented beach house,my mom and I used to go grocery shopping alone. If there were cherries, they were always ridiculously expensive, but we'd buy a bag anyway. And then we'd take a *long* detour home, giving us time to finish the cherries on our own without having to share them!!

I cook a lot with sumac but I never thought of using it with cherries; love the idea and the presentation!

i am only catching up now.. this looks amazing! cherries are inpossible to afford here, especially at the moment, but I will try this in the summer. x
