This sounds great Bron, I have my thinking cap on. Funny that you stressed the legal . . . !

I'm tempted to get some weed and make the Alice B Toklas brownies.

Hi Bron,
Do elderflowers count? I made elderflower meringues recently and I'd love to enter them but I don't know if previous posts are allowed either!

Barbara - I was thinking the same! Great idea, could spawn a whole new event!!

I had a great dinner at a restaurant here in Sicily a few months ago of pasta with wild fennel (finocchietto selvatico) and fresh ricotta. I managed to get the recipe and recreated it at home and it was just as good. If I can find some more wild fennel, I'll do it again and photograph it this time. It's not the right time for good ricotta but I think I'll still write about it for this event :-)

But the wildest part of that restaurant meal was the stewed porcupine that we were served as a special "treat." Definitely the strangest thing I've eaten. And porcupines are protected here on the island so it certainly wasn't a regular menu item! We were trying to figure out if the cook had maybe hit one on the way to work :-) I must say that it was pretty good, though!

Hehe yes Emma, I stressed "legal" last time too!

I won't squeal on you Barbara!

Hi Laura, elderflowers might perhaps grow a little high to be considered "weeds" hehe ;-) however old posts are totally fine with me! I'll leave the final decision up to you!

Whoa Nicole! That is really WILD stuff hehe, I look forward to hearing more about your WILD fennel ricotta! And perhaps your "porcupine treat" will fit into a future theme! ;-)

Thanks heaps for your kind words and comments everyone!
