bron, i was so distracted by that absolutely adorable sleeping feline, that i almost didn't notice the to-die-for cookies. when i was a kid my mom used to make a cookie that seems pretty similar to these (minus the sesame) that were called preacher cookies. why preacher cookies, i don't know. but mmm mmm mmm they were good. these look awesome! great photos as always!

Iced cookies? I can see why these wouldn't last long.

Brilynn — Monday 6th November 2006 2:48 am

interesting variation on a great cookie- I've never seen this written up with raw white flour or using sesame seeds.

I'd love to stir some fig jam in there too...

off to hunt down ingredients!

McAuliflower — Monday 6th November 2006 11:41 am

How unusual...I love it. It must have been cookie weekend as I, and many other bloggers made cookies I noticed.

peabody — Monday 6th November 2006 1:59 pm

Hi Amanda, not to worry, I get very distracted by him too!
Thanks heaps!

Thank you Brilynn!

Thank you mcauliflower, fig jam would be a fab addition I imagine

Hi Peabody, it's funny how certain ideas come in waves through the blogosphere, one can never have too many cookie recipes!

Thank you!

I don't think I have evr tried a sesame and chocolate combination before. It sounds amazing. I love how speckled your cookies are and that dollop of icing is just too cute!

jenjen — Tuesday 7th November 2006 1:16 am

Oo - sesame seeds in cookies, I've never thought of that before! What a great idea, and even greater result!

Ellie — Tuesday 7th November 2006 1:42 am

Look a lovely Boon! Nice idea to add the sesame seeds! With all this nice chocolate, miam!

Bea at La Tartine Gourmande — Tuesday 7th November 2006 1:47 am

These sound delicious! I like imaginative recipes and I have now a hunkering for sesame seeds!

Helen — Tuesday 7th November 2006 2:44 am

Looks great...though I could see that yummy chocolate on top getting messay ;)

Jeff — Wednesday 8th November 2006 1:54 am

Now, Bron, oats and chocolate, that's sounding so much like health food. Haven't oats and chocolate resently been in the news for health benifits. ho, ho.
Healthy or not I love these cookies - you do such lovely things with a camera and oven! Like the kitty also.

Tanna — Thursday 9th November 2006 12:28 am

Bron - that looks great! I love the combination of chocolate, sesame and oats. I've made a lot of Green & Black's chocolate flapjacks and they're always much improved with a handful of sesame seeds. Will have to try these too.

Caroline@Bibliocook — Thursday 9th November 2006 12:48 am

Yum, these look decadent! Love the addition of the sesame seeds, so unique!

Dianka — Thursday 9th November 2006 8:20 am

Bron you are such a worry. Am beginning to think I should stop reading your blog... everything you bake / cook looks so good. The cat is cute too. I could see my fluffy tabby saying hello! But your food looks like it would sit on my waistline for an eternity! I am a big oat fan and love sesame seeds (but don't like sesame oil) - these cookies are on my to be baked and worked off at the gym list. I lookforward to your next post...

Tim — Thursday 9th November 2006 7:38 pm

Oh wow Bron! Talk about food porn pics... :o) And I love the idea of sesame seeds in chocolate cookies - I am filing this recipe away to try out over the holidays for sure! Mr Boon looks GORGEOUS - I must really get round to posting a pic of Troy, our "timeshare" cat (he belongs to our lovely neighbour but behaves as though he lives with us!) who is just as pitch black and handsome :-)

Jeanne — Friday 10th November 2006 5:10 am

Your photos are tempting and delicious. The one of Boon makes me think a nap would be wonderful. I still have your apricot pastries on the docket for this weekend.

Becca — Friday 10th November 2006 6:00 am

oh.. what a great way to use up sesame seeds! i always have trouble trying to work out what to do with a packet that i buy just for the sake of a few sprinkles. and the chocolate icing mmmmm...

ilingc — Saturday 11th November 2006 5:14 pm

So sinful. So decadent. But so good. Well done, Bron ! I think I also have too much sesame seed in my cupboard.... Always good to have an excuse, right ?
Much love, angelika

angelika — Sunday 12th November 2006 4:56 am

The food looks delicious as always but I'm going to talk about your cat: what a gorgeous animal! I had a cat when I was a kid and she was the sweetest thing ever. :)

Ari (Baking and Books) — Sunday 12th November 2006 5:07 am

So yummy and cute! Kiss the kitty for me!

Bron,

These cookies look great! You have a cute cat too.

Bruno — Saturday 18th November 2006 11:59 am

Looking good Bron. I need to do some baking tomorrow and these look like they might just be perfect. I a thinking of adding a few walnuts too... Recipes are there to be played with, right!

Tim — Saturday 18th November 2006 10:43 pm

Bron, they look so tempting! Sesame seeds and chocolates... what an interesting combination. I bet they tasted divine.

Boon is so cute :)

hi bron, i was just browsing around and took a peek at your blog. a lovely and beatiful blog you have. scrumptious cookies too!

eliza — Thursday 23rd November 2006 10:12 am

Hi Bron

Wanted to e-mail but couldn't find an address on your site. I am all ready and raring to go to make these cookies tonight - when I realised there's no method - just the ingredients! I did think about just bunging everything together and hoping for the best... but probably safer if you could enlighten me!! Thanks :)

Jeanne — Thursday 30th November 2006 8:13 am

I must be losing my mind Jeanne!!
I can't believe I didn't write in the method, but you are right of course!
How embarrassing, I'm so sorry about this everyone!
In the meantime I've sent you an email Jeanne and I'll update the post with the method a.s.a.p!!
So sorry!!

bron — Thursday 30th November 2006 8:43 am

beautiful as ever, Bron! I love sesame seeds and love the cookie idea! Thanks!

catherine — Thursday 30th November 2006 2:22 pm

Hi Bron

Thanks for the speedy response last night in my hour of need!! The cookies turned out fab fab fab - although I panicked a bit when I could not get the first trayful to stick together! I see from your pics that it's normal for these to have valleys criss-crossing them, but we are talking could-not-stop-them-from-falling-apart-on-the-way-to-the-baking-tray! So I added some extra melted butter and the next tray turned out beautifully. And they taste divine, even without the icing! Will do a post on my exploits over the weekend...

Jeanne — Friday 1st December 2006 6:03 am

hmmmm fantastic! *licks finger and twirls it around in the air* :-)
