ANZAC Pavlova Sandwiches - 2008 "Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives… you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets where they lie side by side here in this country of ours… You the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries, wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. Having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well." Words from the Turkish Government honouring our nations loss at ANZAC Cove. These treats you see above and below are a recap of the recipes I have made previously for my blog to mark ANZAC Day. Please click on the titles below each image to go to their recipes and accompanying posts. For those unaware: ANZAC Day, the 25th of April is a national memorial day to remember the New Zealand and Australian troops who died on the shores of the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey 1915 during World War 1, and those in active service since then. It is a hugely important date to both our nations, a day which forged our friendship through the tragic loss of thousands & thousands of our young men. To see the delicious new Antipodean treat I'm making to mark ANZAC Day this year, you will have to come back tomorrow!
