The delightful Emma a.k.a The Laughing Gastronome is hosting a pre-Christmas New Zealand Blogging by Post.

The idea being that you package up some foodie themed goodies and send it off to a lucky recipient, whilst gaining a package of goodies in return.
With strict bio-securities and over the top postage fees, it was decided a NZ only event would potentially open up more sending possibilities.

Naturally I've begun to think about what I'm going to send in my parcel, and anyway I thought I'd share a few of my ideas on how to make your parcel more exciting for your recipient...

how about sending something homemade or homegrown (no wacky-backy please!)
something for the coming season... Christmas / Summer
a Kiwi favourite of yours
something that's strictly found it your neck of the woods, regional in other words! E.g Wild thyme from Otago, Jersey Bennes from Oamaru, Honey from your most local apiary.
Try and think outside the square, it need not only be edible and it need not be expensive.
Perhaps a favourite kitchen tool, or a serving idea, some interesting shells collected from your local beach to serve dipping sauces in!
Obviously local farmers markets and craft shops will be beaming with ideas, not necessarily ideas only for purchasing, but also ideas for re-creating!!
Don't forget to label the goodies for your recipient, especially if they're not already or it's not immediately obvious what they are!
Lastly don't be shy in giving advice on how to best use and enjoy your goodies!
