I love the enamel bowl and pot!

Cheers,

I've got to admit since taking the food photo side of things more seriously (ie at the same time as I brought the Canon 7d) I have succumbed to regular little purchases...

There is a set of little copper pots and various spoons and forks (seen here http://www.spittoonextra.biz/chorizo_and_bean_stew.html) and a glorious wooden bowl (http://www.spittoonextra.biz/runner_bean_coleslaw.html). My favourites though are these 1930's Bakelite topped salt and pepper shakers (http://www.spittoonextra.biz/lamb_with_lemon_and_sage.html). Yep its becoming an obsession.

I should set up a prop-exchange club, for food photographers do need a change of props once in a while to keep the images fresh...

I was recently in my hometown of Venice, staying with my mom, and I looked through her drawers and took few things back with her permission that I could use as food props. I have to limit myself, but I am always looking for cheap and interesting things that will make interesting props.

That's a rhetorical question, right?? I am obsessed with props - came back from Paris with a gorgeous little mini skillet; and back from Portobello road with an engraved silver plate knife to die for. I collect props wherever I go - hubby is beginning to lose patience with the odd placemats and mismatched cutlery that litter the drawers ;)

I love the old enamel too Rosa, thanks.

Thanks for sharing Andrew, I make a few purchases now & then, no where near what I would wish for. If only money grew on trees! But to be fair, I do *need* to gather things occasionally when styling for clients. Your copper pots are brilliant, I love them and the wooden bowls. There's a couple who sell olives & deli goods at our local farmers market with a table full of similar turned bowls... I should take a photo next time!

Hi Laura, I bet your Mum has a beautiful collection of things, limiting oneself is definitely tricky!

Oh Jeanne, husbands eh! My J is usually quite supportive & understanding about needing more props. However he also thinks I could begin selling some of the older ones to pay for these new ones! This is where we become unstuck & start to disagree ;-)
